This book has been written during the authors tenure of INSA Senior Scientists (1996-2000) working on Eco-physiological studies of some metabolic and Cardio-respiratory adaptations of Air-breathing Fishes of India.' Simultaneously money was available from CSIR during the period 1996-99, on a research Project entitled- ';Adaptation of Airbreathing fishes to environmental stress Impact of Environmental Oxygen, Ions and Agrochemicals on the Respiratory, Circulatory and Excretory Organs.'
