Annotation

Lessons from the Gospel of John is a different sort of book due to the format that is used in its writing. It is not a doctrinal treatise of John, neither is it a verse-by-verse or a paragraph-by-paragraph study of the book. Because Gene Little is a teacher by his gift, it is presented in a teaching mode. He takes a phrase or action and does a practical investigation for application. His motto of investigation is simply this: "What does the Bible say?" Being a conservative fundamentalist, he goes into it to see what the Scriptures actually say concerning the issue at hand. For example, what are miracles? (C2-L1); what does it mean to see? (C20-L1); or when did Jesus die? (C19-L3). The book also has the advantage that one does not have to start at the beginning. Each lesson, with few exceptions, can stand alone. Therefore, they may be used in a variety of ways-for information to enhance a current study, a starting point for a deeper study of the issue, or even as a devotional since each lesson may be read in five to seven minutes. However, if you want to start at the front and read through, that's OK too. The lessons were originally prepared as message outlines taught from the pulpit over a period of about two and a half years. The reader has the advantage of all the filler verbiage left out. Go to the table of contents, pick a topic, and then learn the lessons from the Gospel of John.
