Annotation
Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. About the year 1625, Jacob Kool came from Holland to New Amsterdam, now New York, under the auspices of the West India Company, and from this man sprang a race of Coles that located at Tarrytown on the east bank of the Hudson and along the west side from its mouth to Kingston. They were distinctly Hollanders, and maintained their national customs and names more or less for over a hundred years.
