Annotation
Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Tm: appearance in public of this little narrative of important and interesting events in the foundation and subsequent history of the ancient corporation of Bristol Borough, is in some degree due to the solicitation of influential citizens. It had its origina tion in the personal desire of the compiler to acquaint himself with a knowledge of the by-gone public affairs of the town. The compiler feels justified in saying, that his researches have been carefully and amply made, and close attention has been bestowed in the revision of his own labours, especially in the securing of accuracy in dates and names; and it is believed to be as free from error or misguidance as books of like character may rightfully lay claim to. N 0 event recorded has been cousi dered of too slight importance to be worthy of his searching for and recording all its particularities, with the historical authori ties and references noted.
