Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Language, as the expression of thought, involves two factors, symbols and the ideas or relations expressed by the symbols. Reading, accordingly, implies the recognition of written or printed symbols and their interpretation. In addition, oral reading involves the oral expression of the symbols in such a manner that those listening may recognize and interpret them, and grasp the thought of what is read. The word thought as used here includes emotional elements as well as imagery and ideas.
