Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The exhaustion of the first edition and of a subsequent reprint has now provided an opportunity of revising the information in this book in order to keep pace with the rapid changes in educational matters of the last few years. A heavy pressure of other work has made it impossible to devote any considerable amount of time consecutively to the task of revision, and the writer cannot help feeling that there may be repetitions and omissions due to the necessity of continually laying aside the work for varying periods. The first part of the book, dealing with Secondary Schools, has been little altered beyond the omission of a certain amount of somewhat irrelevant matter, and the insertion in its place of a chapter on Fire Protection and rather fuller treatment of Training Colleges, Pupil Teachers' Centres, Cost of School Buildings, &c.
