Gentrification is a collection of stories written at different times in different states at different stages of the evolution of the author’s personality. It is an attempt to show the “new emigration” of tech geeks from within. A ballad about how the IT sphere in Russia first became the main social elevator, and then opened the way to emigration. It is a memoir about how one tries to live with a combustible mixture of melancholy and neurasthenia. It is a tangle of disparate thoughts: about the city of Berlin and the country of Germany, about the eternal and the temporal, about work and leisure, worries about the fate of one’s homeland, while living far away from home. It is a series of attempts to leave the past in the past and force yourself to change, to become a different person, a bright and new one. It is the confession of an immigrant about his first five years in the new country.
