Jeanne Moreau: Oh my God. I got the chills so many times toward the end of this book. It completely blew my mind. An extremely powerful story from a young lady. Bravo Arevik Zadoyan! 🙏😉🤗 Double Plus Excelent for this novel, 100%recommending!
HGM : Hans-Georg Mähr: I am visiting Prague quite often and luckily this time I found this book at Shakespeare and Sons store, which will definitely recommend! The auther tried to stay unbiased and refrain from presenting Armenians as saints and portraying all the Turks in a strongly negative way. She gave positive names to members of the pasha’s household; both his daughter Ahu (“beautiful eyes” in Turkish) and second wife Sülen, (“bright stars”) are very kind to Anna. The pasha is a controversial character – he kills people by order of the Ottoman government, but he is not a natural killer and prefers to philosophize. Zadoyan Arevik stepped into the book as an objective third person, only observing and presenting the tragedy of one girl as a metaphor for the whole nation. Great book, and an amazing author, wow!
Richard Foster: This book is inspiring, engaging and very useful… different and refreshing… excellent and I thoroughly recomme it to anyone. The author wants to build bridges through dialogue, and she is doing it openly with knowledge, literature and culture. Arevik Zadoyan, never stop writing!
Anthony Marais: Greatly impressed with her way of approaching such a grave topic. She is writing about issues that the world should constantly be reminded about and that need to be made public... I would like to compare Arevik Zadoyan's book with the recent "Wake up the souls tour" of the Armenian-American rock band System of a Down.
James Owen: I was terribly shocked by the merciless hatred of the muslim Turks towards the christian Armenians. This world war 1 time frame was the setting for this true story of great courage and sacrifice.Sapi the great great grandmother of the author was a person of great dignity who sacrificed her life and her babies rather than be corrupted or defiled by the pasha.Anna who survived had to experience great sorrow and anguish loosing her loved ones she courageously persevered as the heroine of the true story. All people all over the world need to know the truth of history however painful it is because we must never again repeat the immense bloodshed, genocide and horror of the last century but March forward to create a world of truth beauty and goodness as taught and practised by our beloved Lord Jesus Christ.Thankyou deeply from the bottom of my heart Arevik for sharing your families and nations true history with the world. James.GB.
Axel Küchler: This was such a great experience! I never thought about Armenians' personal experience before reading this book.
Kate Gerrard: I found this book very interesting, powerful, intelligent and attractive. 👍 The young auther has done a marvelous job. It is hard to imagine a better investment of money and time than buying and reading this novel !!! 😊 👌
Will Stevens: So glad I stumbled upon this book! It is an incredibly touching story and very well-written especially for such a young age. Definitely would recommend!
